"We began using the BLS STAT series here at Zwolle Intermediate School at the mid-term of the 1989-90 school year. We were faced with 26% failure rate on our Louisiana exit exam within our population of junior high students. With Board approval, we established a 7th class period, a required elective for all students not on level in math, reading, or grammar. Since the 1990-91 school year, we have not had a single student fail the LEAP exam."
